چکیده
Bufo bufo, Depth Perception, Prey Catching Behaviour, Eye Accommodation, Monand Binocularity Distance estimation in prey catching was as exact in monocular toads (Bufo bufo (L.)) as in binocular ones. Application of Atropine or Miotic® had no significant effect on binocular animals, whereas in monocular toads it made accurate distance estimation impossible. The accom modative state of the eye is decisive for depth estimation of monocular, but not of binocular toads.

متن کاملVolunteer Conservation Action Data Reveals Large-Scale and Long-Term Negative Population Trends of a Widespread Amphibian, the Common Toad (Bufo bufo)
Rare and threatened species are the most frequent focus of conservation science and action. With the ongoing shift from single-species conservation towards the preservation of ecosystem services, there is a greater need to understand abundance trends of common species because declines in common species can disproportionately impact ecosystems function. We used volunteer-collected data in two Eu...
متن کاملCardiovascular responses to hypoxia and anaemia in the toad Bufo marinus.
Amphibians exhibit cardiorespiratory responses to hypoxia and, although several oxygen-sensitive chemoreceptor sites have been identified, the specific oxygen stimulus that triggers these responses remains controversial. This study investigates whether the cardiovascular response to oxygen shortage correlates with decreased oxygen partial pressure of arterial blood (Pa(O(2))) or reduced oxygen ...
متن کاملIs the behavioural divergence between range-core and range-edge populations of cane toads (Rhinella marina) due to evolutionary change or developmental plasticity?
Individuals at the leading edge of expanding biological invasions often show distinctive phenotypic traits, in ways that enhance their ability to disperse rapidly and to function effectively in novel environments. Cane toads (Rhinella marina) at the invasion front in Australia exhibit shifts in morphology, physiology and behaviour (directionality of dispersal, boldness, risk-taking). We took a ...

The basic idea o f our anticipatory approach t o perception is t o avoid the common separation o f perception and generation o f behavior and t o fuse both aspects in to a consistent neural process. Our approach is based on the prediction o f the consequences o f hypothetically executed actions. In this sense, perception o f space and shape is assumed t o be a generative process o f anticipatin...
